Fujian's forestry industry gross output value exceeds 800b yuan

In 2024, Fujian's forestry industry saw robust growth, achieving a total output value of 812.1 billion yuan ($111.14 billion), representing a 6.1 percent year-on-year increase.
During the past year, Fujian made significant strides in enhancing its bamboo sector, with the province boasting 18.73 million mu (1.24 million hectares) of bamboo forests and producing 2.13 million metric tons of bamboo shoots, both ranking first nationwide.
Furthermore, the development of the flower and tree "beautiful economy" in Fujian reached a total output value of 135.55 billion yuan. Efforts to promote under-forest economy resulted in the establishment of over 300 under-forest economy bases.
Focusing on forest land management, the province successfully completed the transfer of forest land management rights for 2.39 million mu, while nurturing 295 new forestry management entities.
Regarding land greening initiatives, Fujian exceeded its yearly targets by afforesting 1.13 million mu and improving the quality of 3.73 million mu of forests. The province also completed the construction of 210,000 mu of coastal shelterbelts.
Looking ahead to 2025, Fujian plans to afforest 800,000 mu, nurture forests on 3 million mu, and close hills for afforestation on over 1 million mu to ensure a steady enhancement of forest coverage.
At the recent national forestry and grassland work video conference, Fujian’s accomplishments in 2024 were commended, with a focus on seven key tasks, such as sustainable forest management, wildlife conservation, and deepening of the reform of collective forest rights, in first place in the country.
