The Lanqin Garden Flower Industrial Park in Liancheng county, Longyan city in Fujian province, was officially opened on Feb 15. Longyan Shuotong Agriculture Co Ltd developed the park, which spans approximately 400 mu (26.67 hectares) and has a planned investment of 500 million yuan ($68.92 million). The project aims to establish a smart high-end flower industry park that integrates research, production, exhibition, trade, study tours, and tourism.

Significant progress has been made during the construction phase. The initial phase, which cost over 60 million yuan, includes a cutting-edge 2,000-square-meter plant tissue culture laboratory, nearly 7,000 sqm of intelligent greenhouse, and a 1,000-sqm exhibition hall.

The plant tissue culture center can cultivate over 150 varieties of butterfly orchids, producing 10 million annually through tissue culture. The intelligent greenhouse yields 400,000 mature butterfly orchids per year, generating an annual output value of 30 million yuan and creating nearly 50 local job opportunities. These butterfly orchids are distributed throughout the country and abroad, demonstrating Liancheng's modern agriculture.

Next month, the second batch of the project's first phase will commence, expanding production capacity and enhancing variety with an additional 10,000 sqm of intelligent greenhouse.

Lanqin Garden's butterfly orchids are distinguished products that benefit from unique sea level and climate advantages, extending the flowering time by one month and producing more vibrant petals compared to similar products. Liancheng will further collaborate with research institutions, e-commerce platforms, and cultural tourism enterprises to propel the park towards digitalization, intelligence, and branding, establishing a modern benchmark for the flower industry that integrates production, education, research, and tourism.
