The National Tourism Standardization Technical Committee announced the results of the third batch of national civilized tourism demonstration units on Dec 6. Qingyan Ancient Town in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is among 46 honorees that met national standards.
Qingyan Ancient Town lies 29 kilometers from Guiyang's city center and 12 km south of Huaxi district.
The scenic spot, which covers an area of approximately 5.8 square kilometers, enchants visitors with its stone-paved streets and stone-walled residences. Its layout reflects the architectural charm of the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) dynasties, with four primary streets and 26 smaller lanes and alleys dotted with historical landmarks.
In September 2005, Qingyan Ancient Town was designated among the second batch of national historical and cultural towns. In February 2017, it was rated a national 5A-level scenic area. This November, it ranked among the 2024 top 100 national 5A-level scenic areas.
