At the 3rd China Meteorological Tourism Industry Development Conference on Dec 16, the China Meteorological Tourism Development Report (2024) designated Guiyang as a summer resort destination for 2024 and awarded the city a top-tier "excellent" rating.
As "National Best Summer Resort City", Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has once again won a climate-based ecological tourism honor. The report also emphasizes that Guiyang's appeal extends far beyond the summer months, with pleasant weather conditions lasting up to 10 months a year.
Guiyang's summer climate is characterized by frequent rainfall, especially at night. Nighttime rain increases humidity, cleansing the air of dust and pollutants, and enhances the city's overall air quality. This results in a fresher atmosphere, elevating the comfort of the entire ecosystem.
Over the past decade, Guiyang has averaged 81 days of comfortable summer weather per year, with 11 days considered ideal – accounting for 88 percent of the summer's most comfortable days.
