2025 lantern festival & temple fair opens in Guanshanhu Park

The 2025 Guanshanhu Lantern Festival and Temple Fair will be held from Jan 22 to Feb 16 in Guanshanhu Park, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province. Locals and visitors are invited to enjoy lantern displays, explore the temple fair, savor delicious food, watch performances, and experience the festive spirit of the Chinese New Year.

The event is set against the backdrop of Guanshanhu Park's Ethnic Unity Square, which covers an area of 70,000 square meters. The historic "Nine Gates and Four Pavilions" of the old city of Guiyang are brought to life through mesmerizing light installations and architecture. The blend of traditional culture and modern cityscapes creates a unique and enchanting atmosphere.

With the form of "light and shadow" and the core concept of "Guiyang Dream", the lantern festival reimagines Guiyang as a "light and shadow fantasy city". Visitors will be treated to six light and shadow theaters, 60 light installations, 30 photo-worthy spots, and 100 food brands, along with over 40 performances and more than 30 interactive drama characters each day.

The temple fair will also feature traditional Chinese New Year customs such as paper cutting, woodblock prints, and lantern riddles. Guests will have the chance to enjoy cultural games like bamboo pole dancing and the welcoming gate wine ritual, plus an array of exciting Chinese New Year activities.

Visitors can also experience immersive parades, including the Nuo mask and God of Wealth processions, along with live performances of intangible cultural heritage, folk acrobatics, and contemporary circus acts. To top it all off, spectacular firework shows will light up the sky for 10 minutes at various times throughout the celebration.
