With the smooth landing of flight RF863 at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Feb 2, the international temporary tourist charter flight route from Cheongju, South Korea, to Guiyang was officially opened.
This route is operated by Aero K using the Airbus A333 airplane, with round-trip flights every Wednesday and Saturday. The first three flights from Cheongju to Guiyang carried 117, 164, and 77 South Korean tourists, respectively, demonstrating the strong demand for Guizhou tourism in the South Korean market.
Two themed routes have been launched to cater to the preferences of South Korean tourists:
Route 1: A four-night and six-day in-depth tour covering world-class attractions such as Longgong Cave, Beipanjiang Bridge, Wanfenglin Scenic Area, Malinghe Canyon, the Huangguoshu Waterfall, and Zhijin Cave.
Route 2: A three-night and five-day tour highlighting Guizhou's top three attractions – Huangguoshu Waterfall, Wanfenglin Scenic Area, and Zhijin Cave.
Tourists from the inaugural travel group praised the trip, "Taking a sightseeing bus through Wanfenglin Scenic Area, with walking distances controlled within 3,000 steps, and experiencing the intangible cultural heritage of batik in Zhijin Ancient City, this 'slow travel' fits perfectly with our preferences."
Data shows that among South Korean tourists on these routes, 58 percent were aged 60 and above, with occupancy rates of specialty accommodations and participation in ethnic cultural experience projects exceeding 90 percent.
Guizhou Civil Aviation Industry Group Co revealed that it will use the opening of the charter flight route as an opportunity to build a network of flight routes from Guiyang to major tourist origin cities in East Asia.
