During the early summer, the flame trees at Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park in Sanya have reached their prime blossoming season, which has attracted crowds of tourists to visit the scenic spot and take photos.
The flowers appear like radiant flames. Against the backgrounds of green forests, the red blossoms are like dazzling phoenixes residing in trees.
Flame tree's scientific name is delonix regia, which is a species of flowering plant in the bean family Fabaceae, subfamily Caesalpinioideae. They are noted for their fern-like leaves and flamboyant display of flowers. The flowers are large, with four spreading scarlet or orange-red petals up to eight cm long, and a fifth upright petal that is yellow and white.
