Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province was ranked 14th among all prefecture-level cities in China in terms of city brand influence, according to a recent report released in Shanghai.

The report, which was primarily compiled by the China City Network affiliated to People's Daily, evaluated the brand influence of 293 prefecture-level cities across the nation based on the five first-grade indicators of quality, service, innovation, tangible assets, as well as intangible assets.

Factors like city creditability, national brand number, air quality, afforestation rate, proportion of non-local population, employment rate, per capita disposable income, and average life expectancy were also taken into consideration.

The weight of green development and shared development in the evaluation was increased, while that for city scale and gross domestic product (GDP) was reduced with the aim of promoting the people-oriented city development principle.

Suzhou in East China's Jiangsu province topped the ranking, followed by Foshan, Wenzhou, Dongguan, Wuxi, Shaoxing, Changzhou, Jiaxing, Zhuhai, and Jinhua.

A total of seven cities from Zhejiang province made the top 100 list.

Huzhou, a city with more than 2,300 years of history in Zhejiang province, perches on the southern side of Taihu Lake, the third largest fresh lake in China. It is home to a number of renowned scenic attractions, such as Mount Mogan and Nanxun Ancient Town.
