The 20th Inner Mongolia Grassland Cultural Festival kicked off in Hohhot, the capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on July 8.

This year's festival will last around a month until Aug 6 and feature 28 events divided into six sections.

The opening ceremony was held at 8 pm on July 8 at the Inner Mongolia Sports Stadium, presented in the form of a concert.

The closing ceremony is set to be a dance showcase, selecting award-winning works from Inner Mongolia's dance competitions and inviting classic works from Guangxi, Tibet, Ningxia, and Xinjiang autonomous regions to promote exchanges and mutual learning in regard to ethnic folk dances.

This year's festival will also include a regional cultural exchange section. That aims to promote cultural fusion by inviting renowned Chinese opera singers to perform, hosting the Chinese Yellow River Basin Drama Red Plum Competition, and presenting an exhibition of outstanding acrobatics and magic performances from five provinces and regions in North China.
