Inner Mongolia leads in number of cattle and sheep breeding farms nationwide

The 2023 Livestock and Poultry Breeding Industries Development Forum was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi province.

The forum showcased a batch of new technologies, resources, and varieties and released a batch of significant information on the breeding industry development.

North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region achieved several recognitions at the event.

The "Dumeng Sheep" of Inner Mongolia has obtained the national new variety certificate. The Aolu Guya reindeer conservation farm has been awarded the national-level conservation farm certificate.

Meanwhile, five enterprises from Inner Mongolia have been selected as national core breeding farms. Two regional breeding bull stations have passed the frozen semen inspection for 10 consecutive years.

In recent years, Inner Mongolia has continuously worked in the livestock and poultry breeding industries.

Currently, Inner Mongolia has cultivated 23 beef and mutton varieties, making it the region with the highest number of cultivated varieties in the country.

The number of national-level livestock and poultry conservation farms there has reached 11, ranking fourth in the country.

The region has become a leading hub for core breeding farms, boasting 20 such facilities for both cattle and sheep. In fact, it has even climbed the ranks to become the second-highest contributor to the nation's total number of core breeding farms.
