The General Administration of Sport of China announced on Dec 26 that Su Yiming, a 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics champion, has secured a spot in the Snowboard Halfpipe Finals of the 14th National Winter Games.

The National Snowboard Halfpipe Championship (2023-2024 Season) and Qualifying Tournament for the 14th National Winter Games concluded on Dec 25 at the Yunding Ski Resort in Chongli, Zhangjiakou city.

The finals of the open group consisted of three rounds, with the best performance determining the ranking. In the end, Liu Jiayu from Heilongjiang province won the women's division with a score of 89.00, while Zhang Yiwei from the Beijing team secured the men's division championship with a score of 95.60.

This category is not Su Yiming's main event. He only began practicing it in the spring of this year. In the finals, he achieved the fifth place with a score of 77.80.

According to the Rules of the Snowboard Halfpipe Skills Competition for the 14th National Winter Games, the top 16 athletes in the open and youth categories of both the men's and women's divisions will qualify to take part in the finals of their corresponding events. Therefore, the aforementioned snowboard stars have all qualified for the finals.

The Snowboard Halfpipe Finals will take place in Zhalantun, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region next February.

The Zhalantun venue will host a total of 33 events in two main disciplines and three sub-disciplines for the 14th National Winter Games, including ski mountaineering, freestyle skiing aerials, freestyle skiing moguls, and snowboard halfpipe.
