It was announced at the regional grassland work symposium held on June 29 that North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region achieved remarkable milestones in 2023.

The region's grass seed breeding base now spans 265,000 mu (17,666.67 hectares), with an annual seed production capacity surpassing 5 million kilograms.

Additionally, 21.72 million mu of artificial forage grass has been planted, yielding a total of 75.43 million metric tons of various forages. The grass industrial chain's total value has reached an impressive 80.21 billion yuan ($10.99 billion), securing Inner Mongolia's position as the national leader in both production and value.

Since the beginning of this year, Inner Mongolia has been accelerating the construction of Phase VI of the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program and advanced pilot projects aimed at addressing overgrazing issues.

These efforts are part of a broader strategy to promote high-quality development in the grass industry, continuously enhance grassland ecological protection and restoration, and strengthen the control of harmful grassland pests.

By the end of June, Inner Mongolia had completed the task of improving 7.92 million mu of grassland and restored 500,000 mu of degraded sandy Leymus chinensis grasslands. Additionally, pest control measures have been implemented across 33.77 million mu of grassland.
