Three athletes from Inner Mongolia set to compete in Paris Olympics

MailOn July 13, a grand assembly was held in Beijing to mark the establishment of the Chinese sports delegation for the Paris Olympics.
The delegation comprises 716 members, including 405 athletes. Among these elite competitors, three athletes from Inner Mongolia – Li Qian, Yang Liu, and Niu Guangsheng – have successfully secured their spots.
Li Qian's journey began in 2007 when she joined the Inner Mongolia boxing team. By 2012, she was dominating the domestic scene, sweeping nearly all national championships in the women's 75kg category.
Her Olympic debut in 2016 saw her clinching a bronze medal in the same weight class. At the Tokyo Olympics, Li once again represented China, this time earning a silver medal in the women's 75kg category.
This achievement not only marked the best performance by an Inner Mongolian athlete at an overseas Olympic event but also made her the first female athlete from Inner Mongolia to win an Olympic medal.
Yang Liu joined the Inner Mongolia boxing team in July 2008. Over the years, she has amassed an impressive collection of medals, including seven golds, seven silvers, and five bronzes in national competitions.
In March 2023, she triumphed at the Women's World Boxing Championships in New Delhi, India. Representing China at the Hangzhou Asian Games, Yang secured a gold medal, which also earned her a ticket to the Paris Olympics.
Niu Guangsheng was selected by the coaches of the Inner Mongolia swimming team when it was formed in 2018.
At the Hangzhou Asian Games, Niu, representing China, teamed up with his fellow swimmers to win a silver medal in the men's 4×200m freestyle relay with a time of 7:03.40. This silver medal is the best result achieved by Inner Mongolia's swimming team in a world-class competition.
At the 2024 National Swimming Championships and Paris Olympic Trials, Niu won the men's 200m butterfly final, meeting the Olympic A standard and securing his qualification for the Paris Olympics. This marks the first time an Inner Mongolian swimmer has qualified for the Olympics.
