The world's first mass-produced vehicle equipped with a semi-solid-state battery, the SAIC MG4 Semi-Solid Anxin Edition, was recently delivered in Haibowan district, Wuhai city, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Notably, the battery's new manganese-based cathode material is produced by a local company in Haibowan.

The model's core advantage lies in its semi-solid-state battery. By optimizing the electrolyte system and significantly reducing liquid electrolyte content, the battery enhances safety by mitigating thermal runaway risks and performs reliably in cold northern climates.

This breakthrough from laboratory research to mass production is supported by Qingtao (Wuhai) Energy Technology Co, a leading solid-state battery developer with manufacturing bases in Wuhai and Kunshan cities. Its Haibowan facility played a key role in pilot testing battery materials and enabling large-scale application.

In recent years, Haibowan has accelerated the development of strategic emerging industries, including new energy and new materials. Looking ahead, the district plans to deepen industrial clustering by integrating solid-state battery development with local renewable energy and energy storage sectors, aiming to build a new solid-state battery industry hub in Northwest China.
