The construction of the Wuxi Olympic Sports Center in Jiangsu province is still in full swing, local media reported on Feb 26.
With a command from the project supervisor, the crawler crane slowly installed the elliptical box-girder ring beam into place, resembling a "flying heron" when viewed from above.
The successful closure of the steel canopy over the 60,000-seat comprehensive sports stadium marks the project's transition into the membrane structure and decorative finishing stage. Nearly 2,000 construction workers are working intensively to carry out the construction tasks.

Simultaneously, the interior finishing and curtain wall construction of the Phase I swimming hall project are progressing rapidly, and the structural construction of the Phase III commercial and hotel project is also moving forward swiftly.
The Wuxi Olympic Sports Center is located in the Wuxi Economic Development District, adjacent to the Gonghuwan Bay and Shangxian River, highlighting a superior natural environment.
Upon completion, the sports stadium will become the largest in southern Jiangsu. It will be capable of hosting events such as the opening and closing ceremonies of the National Games, large-scale performances, and outdoor exhibitions.
A staff member from the project constructor, Taihu New City Group's Urban Development Co, said that the Wuxi Olympic Sports Center will not only promote the development of Wuxi's cultural and sports industry but also significantly enhance regional value and living quality.
