As important countries along the ancient Silk Road, the exchanges between Hungary and China span millennia. Budapest's choice as the venue for this year's Cherry Blossom Festival opening ceremony is a tribute to the enduring traditional friendship between these two nations.
In his speech, Yu Tiejun, vice-president of Wuxi Cultural Tourism Development Group Co, said that the Danube River nurtured Hungary's romance while Taihu Lake nourished Wuxi's elegance, and the architectural treasures of Budapest and Wuxi's classical gardens are all brilliant gems of human civilization.
As the "window to showcase Wuxi to the world", Yu added, the group looks forward to using culture and tourism as a medium to build bridges between Wuxi and Budapest, and with the world.
As one of three world-renowned cherry blossom viewing spots alongside Japan's Hirosaki Park and the United States' Washington Cherry Garden, Yuantouzhu signed a visitor source exchange agreement with four European travel agencies, including OASES Travel, and invited four international friends to serve as Wuxi's cultural and tourism overseas promotional ambassadors.
