International journalists explore digital flower economy at Dounan Market

Participants in the 2024 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road took a tour of Dounan flower market, Kunming, Yunnan province on Sept 4. The journalists from 29 media outlets in 20 different countries had gathered to explore the digital auction process for flowers.

Upon entering the flower auction center, the journalists were immediately captivated by the bustling activity, advanced transaction systems and intelligent data processing platforms in use. This offered them a firsthand look at the vibrancy and innovation driving China's booming flower industry.

Inside the auction trading hall, buyers were fully immersed in the fast-paced bidding, their eyes fixed on the rapidly changing auction clock as they competed for the best deals.

In the digital flower exhibition hall, staff introduced the data processing platform, highlighting its key features through live demonstrations, giving the media an in-depth understanding of the market's digital transformation.

Journalists also visited the sample display area to explore different flower varieties and grading standards, while enjoying the fragrant aroma of roses up close.

The sheer scale of the venue – 160,000 square meters with 900 trading seats – alongside its vast daily operations, trading more than 3,000 varieties of flowers and an average of over 6 million blooms per day, left an impression on the visitors.

The integrated digital cloud flower service platform, encompassing production, quality control, trading, logistics and customer service, further showcased the advanced capabilities of China's flower industry and its global competitiveness.
