Haimen district in Nantong has leveraged a number of high-tech and promising projects to drive its rapid development in recent years.

On the recently released 2024 list of the top 100 districts nationally in comprehensive strength, Haimen ranks 17th nationwide and fifth in Jiangsu. The district also placed 25th in the national top 100 in terms of investment potential and 16th in the national top 100 in green development.

More innovative projects have significantly advanced Haimen's smart manufacturing sector. The district is home to one national-level and 19 provincial-level smart manufacturing workshops. By tailoring strategies for businesses, Haimen has implemented a phased approach to integrating smart technology, developing smart workshops, and expanding smart factories. This year, the district established five new provincial-level smart factories, the highest number in Nantong.

Economic growth has also improved residents' livelihoods. In the first three quarters of 2023, Haimen's per capita disposable income reached 41,926 yuan ($5,744), up 5.3 percent year-on-year. Urban residents' per capita disposable income rose to 50,912 yuan, while rural residents saw a 6.3-percent increase, reaching 29,167 yuan.
