The new venue of the Nantong Juvenile and Children's Library was officially opened to the public on Jan 17.
The venue was established in 1912 as the Children's Department of the Nantong Library. The newly opened library has an area of 5,400 square meters, 500 reading seats, and a collection capacity of 500,000 volumes. It is a comprehensive service space integrating book borrowing, reading, exhibitions, and cultural heritage.
The venue's design is centered around marine elements, incorporating the image of the Yangtze finless porpoise to create a fairy tale-themed reading space based on marine stories. The main color uses blue and gray to highlight the mystery of the ocean. The reading space is decorated with colorful furniture and bookshelves to create a dynamic and lively atmosphere.
To meet the reading needs of different age groups, the venue has three reading areas for toddlers, children, and youths and 10 functional spaces. In addition, the venue creates a visually intelligent book depository, realizing the intelligence and automation of book shelving, borrowing, inventorying, and sorting processes while also achieving visual management of child readers.
