According to statistics from Nantong Customs, Haimen's imports and exports were valued at 6.19 billion yuan ($851.35 million) from January to February 2025, a year-on-year increase of 103.1 percent and accounting for 9.9 percent of Nantong's total foreign trade.

Its exports reached 4.88 billion yuan, surging 120.8 percent, while imports totaled 1.31 billion yuan, up 56.4 percent, with all growth rates ranking first in Nantong‌.

The intelligent equipment manufacturing industry and shipbuilding and offshore engineering manufacturing industry emerged as core contributors to this expansion in trade, driving explosive growth in electromechanical and steel product exports alongside accelerated imports of mineral and high-tech products.

During the first two months, electromechanical products, ships, and steel products accounted for 56.7 percent, 30.4 percent, and 14 percent of total exports, respectively, with exports of electromechanical products tripling and steel products jumping more than twentyfold year-on-year. Mineral product imports rose 2.4 times, while high-tech product imports grew 34.8 percent‌.

Foreign-invested enterprises demonstrated remarkable performance, with imports and exports soaring by 150 percent and accounting for 41.4 percent of total trade. Private enterprises, representing 58.6 percent of trade, expanded by 57.4 percent. Trade with Belt and Road partner countries increased by 59.6 percent, accounting for 35.1 percent of Haimen's total trade‌.
