The 2025 Badminton Asia Championships, one of the most prestigious badminton tournaments in the region, will take place from April 8 to 13 at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.
Bringing together more than 320 athletes from around 28 countries and regions, the tournament will feature five events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. With nearly 90 percent of the world's top-five ranked players of each category coming from Asia, this year's championships are expected to attract some of the continent's top talents.
At a press conference held in Ningbo on Feb 24, it was announced that Wang Chang and Liang Weikeng have been appointed as the event ambassadors. Recognized as one of the most promising pairs in recent years, the duo was named the "Men's Doubles Pair of the Year" by the Badminton World Federation in 2024. For Wang, a Ningbo native, competing in his hometown adds special significance to the event.
Kim Jang-soo, president of Badminton Asia, said that Ningbo has a strong badminton culture, and choosing to hold the event in the city again reflects the organization's trust and support. He expressed confidence that Ningbo would once again deliver a world-class badminton experience.
The tournament schedule and ticketing details have been released, with ticket prices ranging from 80 to 2,080 yuan ($11 to $286). Sales will officially begin on March 4 across multiple platforms, including Damai and Maoyan.
Outside the competition, the event will blend sports with cultural and technological elements. Highlights include a selection from the Ningbo-originated dance drama Mulan, an electrifying opening light show, high-tech athlete entrance and award ceremonies, and interactive music performances.
A fan festival will also be set up, featuring athlete autograph sessions, trendy merchandise, and over 30 official collectibles. Additionally, various cultural and tourism activities will integrate sports with local attractions to enhance the visitor experience.
Chinese Badminton Association Vice President Xia Xuanze said that the 2024 Badminton Asia Championships in Ningbo were organized well, showing distinctive elements and earning widespread recognition. He praised the city's efforts in delivering a memorable tournament and looked forward to this year's competition.
