Liangshan county in Jining is home to the classic Chinese novel Shuihuzhuan (Outlaws of the Marsh), and is also the famous home of kungfu. It made it to the list of national intangible cultural heritage in 2015, becoming the 18th heritage in Jining city, Shandong province.

Capital of the Grand Canal
Jining has long been known as the “Capital of Grand Canal”, since the section in Jining was the highest point of the Grand Canal and thus controlled the entire route and the official office of the administrative authorities and their military units were set in the city.
