Tai'an aims high for 2025

As 2025 marks the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), Tan'an in Shandong, East China, focuses on getting stronger through new industrialization for high-quality development.

The goal for Tai'an by 2025 is to double the number of large-scale industrial enterprises and operating income, aiming for 2,000 enterprises and over 400 billion yuan ($5.5 billion) in income.

The city's focus is on nurturing new quality productive forces, accelerating the transformation of traditional industries, expanding strategic emerging sectors, and preparing for future industries.

Efforts will continue to attract investments, a key driver for high-quality development. In 2024, the city's new industrial projects had a construction commencement rate of 55.3%, surpassing the provincial average.

New quality productive forces are the core engine driving high-quality development. From January to October last year, Tai'an city's core industries in the digital economy saw a 71.2% growth to 14.64 billion yuan in added value. The city's new energy and power equipment materials were selected as one of the first top 10 advanced manufacturing clusters in the province. By proactively planning for future industries, Tai'an has successively introduced projects from companies such as Chengdu Guoxing Aerospace Technology Co Ltd and Orienspace.

For the work in the new year, Tai'an will prioritize green, high-quality development, focusing on technological transformations and upgrades in manufacturing and large-scale equipment renewal projects. It will also accelerate the cultivation and expansion of emerging industries, and proactively plan for future industries, to cultivate new economic growth opportunities.
