New direct flight connects Qingdao with Ho Chi Minh City
On Jan 1, Shandong Airlines flight SC4645 departed from Qingdao and landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, launching a direct air route between the two cities.
Operating three times weekly, this flight is a key initiative by Shandong Airlines to improve connectivity under the Belt and Road Initiative and expand its international network, fostering closer ties for travel and economic cooperation between the two regions.
With a flight time of about five hours one-way, the new service significantly reduces travel time, nearly halving it compared to transit options.
A launch ceremony at the Qingdao airport featured themed decorations that blended Qingdao's coastal charm with the vibrant scenery of Ho Chi Minh City. Passengers were invited to take photos at interactive booths and received commemorative gifts, creating an engaging pre-flight atmosphere.
As Vietnam's economic and financial hub, Ho Chi Minh City has seen increased cooperation with Shandong in trade and culture. The direct flight significantly shortens travel time between the two regions, facilitating visits for both Chinese tourists to Vietnam and Vietnamese travelers to Shandong, where they can explore its coastal culture, historical heritage, and natural landscapes.
Early bird discounts and two-for-one deals are now available for booking via the Shandong Airlines website, customer hotline 95369, or major online travel platforms.
