In line with Shanghai's efforts to become a hub for high-quality sports events, the Shanghai Sports Museum was opened to the public on July 11.
Located at West Nanjing Road, the 2,000-square-meter museum documents Shanghai's journey of becoming a world-renowned sports city and has four exhibition halls that house more than 1,200 items such as sportswear, medals, mascots and other commemorative items.
Visitors will also experience interactive AR installations and view light shows and short movies.
"I'm most impressed with the great contributions Shanghai has made to the Beijing Olympic Games. The collections in the second hall take me back to the year 2008 and make me excited again," said a 68-year-old visitor said.
A young visitor said that he gained a deeper understanding of the long history of sports in Shanghai following his visit to the museum. "I will definitely recommend this sports museum to my friends," he said.
