Two large-scale nucleic acid testing bases for COVID-19 were completed and put into use in the Shanghai International Medical Zone, which is located in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, on April 6 and 7. Both bases can each test 100,000 samples per day.
The Fire Eye laboratory that was set up by Chinese biotech company BGI Group consists of seven negative-pressure hard air-film cabins and is equipped with advanced autonomous testing systems and devices developed by BGI Group.

Guangzhou Huayin Health Medical Group established the other testing base, which includes six air-film laboratories with over 100 completely self-contained devices.
Hailed as the "medical valley", the Shanghai International Medical Zone is now capable of testing 450,000 samples per day, playing a supporting role in Shanghai's fight to defeat the latest COVID-19 outbreak.
