Since the State Council approved a pilot zone for Silk Road e-commerce cooperation in Shanghai in 2023, the Hongqiao International Central Business District (CBD) has made significant progress.
Over the past year, Hongqiao CBD has implemented 90 percent of the tasks originally laid out in its action plan. This plan focuses on advancing opening-up, deepening Silk Road e-commerce cooperation, maximizing the spillover effects of the China International Import Expo (CIIE), and forming a related service mechanism.
These efforts have resulted in a number of exemplary, innovative, and influential development cases that set the stage for high-quality Silk Road e-commerce development.
Notable achievements include the launch of a new China-Europe freight train line, which connects more than 100 cities in 12 countries, and the expansion of logistics networks in Central Asia. Additionally, Alibaba International Station has become a key hub for Silk Road e-commerce exports.
Hongqiao CBD has also successfully used the CIIE's spillover effects to boost its e-commerce initiatives. For example, Hongqiao Pinhui has created a digital coffee platform to support Silk Road e-commerce, and Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub's partnerships with Serbia have strengthened China-Serbia trade and cultural exchange.
Hongqiao CBD plans to promote extensive Silk Road e-commerce cooperation. Recently, Shanghai has provided a policy boost by introducing measures to support the development of Hongqiao CBD as a hub of international trade, focusing on creating a digital technology application center for Silk Road e-commerce.
