Beidi Temple, located in Shanchang Village of Xiangzhou, Zhuhai, was established in the Tang and Song dynasties (618-1279). It is the oldest temple with a hard peak and grey brick walls in Zhuhai. Its interior features corridors, a courtyard and a palace hall.
Two stone tablets standing in the corridor are titled "Beidi Temple Reconstruction Preface" and "Name list of people contributed to the temple reconstruction", carved respectively in 1779 and 1903.
With references to Taosim's Shang-woo god turtle that lives in the north, Beidi means the god of the north. Chenghuang means the guardian angel of a city. Beidi Temple is thus a carrier of Taoism culture which is part of local history and folk customs. On June 6, 2006, the temple was designated as a cultural relics protection unit of Xiangzhou District.
