According to Zhuhai-Hong Kong Airport Management Co Ltd deputy general manager Vivian Cheung, Zhuhai Airport has realized a year-on-year increase of 29 percent in the number of passengers, the fastest rate of growth in South-Central China. Cheung attributed the achievement to the social stability and economic restructuring of Zhuhai.
This year, Zhuhai Airport increased the number of operational airlines to 25, with 55 routes going to 42 cities nationwide. Sixty percent of the airline destinations have two or more flights. With more than 1,200 flights every week, the airport has formed a network layout centered on Beijing and Shanghai with high-density flights to major cities.
The airport has added and upgraded facilities to improve services this year, including a parking lot flow path and lighting system, cabstands, toilets in departure lounges, mobile phone battery charging, LED panels in the second-floor hall, and program-controlled water dispensers. Convenient mobile phone self-service check-in, web check-in at 24-hour service counters, and airport check-in machines were also added.
In addition, the airport now has 12 departure lounges, a great benefit to nearly 500,000 passengers this year. With 15 express service sites, it runs more than 200 express transports daily, covering almost the entire Zhuhai area.
Cheung said that Zhuhai Airport is trying to open international flights with a second airstrip to support its development.
