Zhuhai People’s Congress session opens

GDP increased by 8.5 percent, general public revenue rose by 12.3 percent, and per capita disposable income of all residents grew by 10 percent in 2016, according to estimates given at the 1st Session of the 9th Zhuhai Municipal People's Congress.
The opening session at the Great Hall of Zhuhai on Jan 11 was presided over by Wang Guangquan, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Zhuhai Municipal People's Congress and an executive chairman of the presidium of the 9th Zhuhai Municipal People's Congress.
Mayor Zheng Renhao, on behalf of the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government, delivered a work report reviewing the past five years, setting goals and missions for the next five years, and making work arrangements for 2017.

In 2017, GDP is to grow by 8-8.5 percent; the value-added amount of industrial enterprises above designated size is to increase by 8 percent; total retail sales of consumer goods is to rise by 12 percent; investment in fixed assets is to escalate by 15 percent; foreign trade is to remain steady; per capita disposable income of all residents is to grow by 8.5 percent; and the consumer price index and registered urban unemployment rate are to be kept below 3 percent and 3.2 percent respectively. Meanwhile, energy conservation, emission reduction and carbon drop, the ratio of hi-tech manufacture value added amount in industrial enterprises above designated size, ratio of manufacture investment in total investment in fixed assets, ratio of producer services value added amount in the service sector, and other indicators will meet provincial requirements.
The delegates examined the Report on Implementation of the Zhuhai National Economic & Social Development Plan for 2016 and Draft Plan for 2017, Report on Implementation of Zhuhai Government Investment Projects Plan for 2016 and Draft Plan for 2017, and Report on Implementation of the Financial Budget for 2016 and Draft Budget for 2017.
Executive chairmen of the congress include City Party Chief Guo Yuanqiang, Wang Guangquan and other senior city officials.
