Dong'ao and Wailingding islands in Zhuhai recently passed an appraisal by an expert panel from the Guangdong Tourist Attraction Quality Rating Committee to develop into national 4A-Grade scenic spots.

After a daylong on-site examination and review, the experts reached consensus that the islands are integral to boosting Zhuhai's tourism and promoting Guangdong's coastal attraction.

Dong'ao and Wailingding have basically met standards in eight aspects such as landscape, infrastructure, and service management. It was further determined that the islands are efficiently managed.

The pair of islands is foreseen as an example and rising star of Guangdong coastal tourism, the expert panel agreed.

Picturesque Dong'ao is located in the center of the Wanshan Archipelago 30 km southeast of Xiangzhou District. Located in the Pearl River Estuary, Wailingding is also to the southeast of Xiangzhou, 27 nautical miles from downtown areas in the west, and 6 nautical miles from Hong Kong Cheung Chau in the north. It is the city's only island with a view of downtown Hong Kong.
