The 300-million-yuan ($43.55 million) Baishi Bridge connecting the east and west banks of the Qianshan Waterway is to open in September.
The bridge came under construction in 2015. The 1,390-m span connects Gangsan Road in the east and Pingwan First Road in the west. The girder is 808 m in length and the main bridge stretches 330 m. The eastern approach is 187.5 m and the western part is 287.5 m with link roads stretching 281 m. The dual four-lane main bridge is 25.5 m in width with sidewalks and non-motor ways on both sides.

The girder of the main bridge has been erected with two European-style main towers standing upright. Two cables suspended and anchored by the towers have recently been placed. They bear the 6,500-ton deck for the city's first self-anchored European-style suspension span. The cable engineering will be completed in late May after fastening and adjustment.

The bridge is meant to alleviate traffic pressure on the Qianshan and Changsheng bridges and break bottlenecks on the east and west banks of the Qianshan River. It is also one of the top-10 livelihood improvement projects on the work agenda of the municipal government to upgrade public transit this year.
Municipal road construction on both ends of the main bridge will be nearly completed by June. Ancillary works including sidewalk guardrails, traffic engineering, electric lighting, and landscaping will be done from May to July.
