The final of the Zhuhai division of the China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition is held on July 31.

The Zhuhai division of the China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition wrapped up on July 31, with 30 enterprises pocketing the first, second, third, and incentive awards.

The standouts will be recommended to take part in the Guangdong division and even the national final of the competition, which offers a prize pool of more than 5 million yuan ($720,596).

This year, 262 companies spanning electronic information, advanced manufacturing, biomedicine, internet, new energy, energy conservation, as well as environment protection and new materials signed up for the Zhuhai division of the competition, up 39.36 percent from the previous year.

The number of enterprises that passed the qualification review increased by 11.84 percent, indicating improved quality of the participating enterprises.

An effective magnet to high-caliber talents, the event attracted 553 postgraduates and 171 PhDs. The age of participants was 38.65 years old on average.

The event was organized by the Zhuhai Scientific & Technological Innovation Bureau under the guidance of the Department of Science & Technology of Guangdong Province. The Zhuhai Productivity Promotion Center and Zhuhai Technology Venture Investment Co Ltd handled it locally.
