Zhuhai more than satisfies WTA leader

Updated: 2016-11-07

Women's Tennis Association CEO Steve Simon says the charm and vitality of the city presage an even brighter future for WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai. On his first visit to the venue, Simon conjectured that the tournament in Hengqin, although young, has already offered the public relatively comprehensive cultural products and fantastic participation experience, adding that the latter would inspire a players' best performance.

As an added delight, the imported Asia-sweeping Savour Food Festival feted fans with tasty morsels while they watched the matches. This is an example of a variety of good elements demonstrating that Zhuhai is moving in the right direction, Simon said.

Zhuhai is envied by urban dwellers throughout the world that do not have close proximity to such international events as the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, International Circus Festival, or WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai, to name a few examples. What's more, the WTA Zhuhai tournament is a high-level competition, giving the city favorable publicity, he continued.

Nonetheless, all events across the globe, whether young or old, have room for improvement. Likewise, Zhuhai needs to take specific measures to popularize tennis know-how and create a positive atmosphere to develop the sport, according to Simon.
