Shangdu Department Store opposite the China Post Office in Xiangzhou's old business district will shut down on Aug 4 after 13 years in business. Due to the departure of some stores, a Closing Out Sale will run until then commencing July 13.

The Shangdu mall, located next to renowned Xiangzhou Department Store on South Fenghuang Road, used to be one of the most crowded marketplaces in Zhuhai. It offered a wide product range from clothes, shoes, and bags to delicacies. It will leave behind many loyal customers.

Shangdu contributed to the thriving general merchandise industry in Xiangzhou. It competed well with the Zhuhai Duty-Free Emporium and International Trade Shopping Plaza in Jida, nearby Yale Plaza, and MOI Department Store in Old Xiangzhou, as well as Milan Department Store and Zhukuan International Tower Commercial Plaza in Gongbei, but had an atmosphere all its own.

The Shangdu buffet and some of the 5th floor's businesses, including the mini cinema, will be open as usual, according to a store manager.
