Hengqin-Jinwan highway-rail bridge pile cast in place
The first bored cast-in-place pile for Pier 26 of the highway-railway Jinhai Avenue Bridge was completed on Aug 19. Another 19 bored piles are to be in place by the end of November.
Five drill operators are working simultaneously to complete underground construction and commence aboveground work by December. Construction of bearing platforms for the main piers should be underway by then, according to China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, the builder.
Cast-in-place
The roughly 7 km (4.3 miles) of the Jinhai Avenue Bridge is 49.6 m (54.2 yd) wide, four-pylon cable-stayed, and the first of its kind in Zhuhai. It will connect Changlong Avenue on southern Hengqin Island, over reclaimed land on the Heju peninsular-island, to where East Jintai Road (East Airport Road, S727) turns from northeast to northwest.
The bridge complex is the dominant engineering project for the Hengqin New Area section of the intercity rail transit line connecting Gongbei with Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport.
The overall structure comprises the Modaomen Highway-Railway Grand Bridge, Hezhou and Baiteng River bridges, and Zizhu Bay Interchange.
