The 9th Doumen Food Festival will return to Shili Lianjiang Agriculture Sightseeing & Experience Garden during the Oct 1-to-7 National Day holiday with culinary delicacies, lighting shows, and cultural performances.

With reference to Munich's Oktoberfest, this year's festival will have two German-style halls and a zone of imported German beer where visitors can quaff the beverage after sampling barbecued food and experiencing German culture.

Local specialties and commodities will be displayed in luminous show windows of the halls to bolster the gourmet festival as a professional food exhibition, according to an organizer from Guangzhou.

To enhance the atmosphere, a lighting show will add to the night view of the Huangyang River, which is near the venue. Exhibitors at the food festival are required to use unified light boxes to promote their products. A lighting corridor will link all the light boxes to help form a large baby's breath neon image.

Families can find suitable entertainment at a 1,500-sq-m (.37-acre) children's entertainment zone. It will offer a carousel, aquatics park, castles, and ball-throwing and shooting stands.

Digital children's amusement park facilities related to the famous Russian cartoon PinCode will also be introduced. Children will be able to interact with the "dolls" and "maumets" from the cartoon.

Acrobatics, dances, magic, and variety shows will be presented at 7:30 pm daily from Oct 1 to 3.
