Patient does well after cancer surgery at Xiawan hospital
Zhuhai's first single-incision laparoscopic radical surgery for cervical cancer has recently been conducted by reputed gynecologist Wang Qingyi at the Zhuhai Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese & Western Medicine located in Xiawan of Gongbei.
The patient, surnamed Long, 50, was diagnosed with cervical cancer one month earlier in a physical examination, and Wang decided to proceed with an atherapeutic regimen of single-port access laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection.

Rather than the traditional four or five small incisions, single-incision laparoscopic surgery is performed entirely through the patient's umbilicus and enables an essentially scar-free result.
Fewer incisions can lead to less possibility of infection, less scarring and pain, and less recovery time. Only a few domestic hospitals are said to have a mature grasp of the technique.
Wang completed the operation in three hours through a two-cm (0.07ft) incision while limiting blood loss to 20 milliliters. The patient was able to move about the next day.
