Zhuhai Design Week from Oct 25 to 31 will draw innovative perspectives from industry and academia to inspire developments in industrial, city, and architectural, fashion, service, IC, and software designs.

In all, they will present an expansive overview of China's transforming landscape in international design philosophies and recent successful projects.

The event is an extension of Beijing Design Week, Asia's largest and most influential event in the field. At a press conference on Oct 11, organizers said they expect great success in Zhuhai before moving on to other cities across the country.

The theme in Zhuhai lines up with the Beijing event's central tenet: promoting the concept of sustainable development within the creative and design industries.

Design association representatives, brand design agencies, and famous designers from Beijing, Hong Kong, Macao, and other parts of the world will take part. They will share ideas on how to strengthen exchanges among international creative cities and suggest ways to promote design development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The agenda lists keynote dialogues, parallel forums, a gathering of selected exhibits from Beijing Design Week, Zhuhai Design Exchange Exhibition, and an exhibition on the city of Copenhagen in Denmark under the theme Living is Giving.

A highlight will be a theme exhibition reviewing China's design development over the past four decades.

Design Trip, a program in which participants learn through global tours organized by the China Building Decoration Association, will also hold various activities. It will be joined by Zhuhai cultural and arts clusters and promote the most dazzling designs in the city.

In addition, public enthusiasm will be promoted with a roll out of sightseeing buses around the city and display of landmarks from bay areas around the world. According to organizers, the 2018 Longteng Supermodel Contest is also on the agenda.

The purpose is to build a bridge for designers entering the market and provide access to advanced global resources.
