Zhuhai's third Yuehai hotel will go up on Bailian Road
Operators of the landmark Guangdong (Yuehai) Regency Hotel in downtown Gongbei have begun building a 450-million-yuan ($65 million) business boutique hotel on Bailian Road in Jida.
A foundation stone-laying ceremony was held for the Yuehai Jida Hotel on Dec 29. It is expected to welcome its first guests in 2022.
The building site is in front of Zhuhai Technician College at 42 Bailian Road. The total planned construction area is 4,070 sq m (1 acre) with floor space of 28,000 sq m (6.9 acres). It is about a 5-minute walk from the Jingshan Road Commercial Area, where the Duty Free Emporium, General Merchandize Fair, and International Trade Shopping Plaza are located.

The hotel will serve medium- and high-end clients. Its occupancy rate, operating margins, customer satisfaction, and other indicators are expected to rank highly among hotels of the same level in the region, according to a manager at Guangdong (Yuehai) Hotel Management Holdings. The investing company is a subsidiary of Guangdong Holdings, which operates throughout Hong Kong, Macao, the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, and other parts of the country.
The manager said the Yuehai Jida Hotel architectural design would have green, environmentally friendly, technological, and health elements.
In October last year, Guangdong Hotel Management Holdings opened the 201-room Tangyi Hotel in Tangjia Old Town of the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Zone. A four-star business boutique, it was developed at a cost of 160-million yuan ($23.2 million).
The Guangdong Regency Hotel is located at the intersection of East Yuehai and Lianhua roads. It has two connected towers and a revolving restaurant that was once visited by former Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping.
