Yeli will show romance, modern dance, string quintet
The January schedule of Zhuhai Opera House on Yeli Island in Old Xiangzhou is replete with classic ballet, modern dance, and string quintets.
Sleeping Beauty
Sleeping Beauty, a "dancing symphony" by Tchaikovsky, is about fate and life. It is woven from the tale of a princess who pricks her finger and falls under a 100-year spell to be awakened only by the kiss of a handsome prince.
The story of a life from girlhood to marriage and the triumph of good over evil is dramatically told during the course of the ballet, making it an ideal choice for families.
Sleeping Beauty
The pinnacle of classical ballet, it is performed by dancers of the Russian National Star Ballet Theatre. Among them are Anna Svetacheva, champion of Vaganova Prix III; and Anufrieva Yuliya and Kozlov Vasily -- winners of The Pearl of Nizhny Novgorod.
Behind the curtain are producer-director Marius Petipa, one of the most prestigous ballet masters in Russia; and art director Valery Kokorev, winner of the Moscow International Ballet Competition.
