The Russian National Orchestra (RNO) was founded in 1990 by pianist and conductor Mikhail Pletnev and today is recognized as one of the world's top orchestras. RNO has been described as "a living symbol of the best of Russian art" (Miami Herald).
The RNO String Quartet, founded at the same time as RNO, has also been hugely successful. It consists of top-notch musicians and has been acclaimed for virtuosic performances of quartets by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, and contemporary Western and Russian composers.
Performers include violinist Tatiana Porshneva, who is also the artistic director of Four Strings; viola player Sofia Lebed; celloist Olesya Anakovskaya; and double bass player Gennady Krutikov.
