Exceptional Jianfeng Mt Forest Park getting upgraded
Access to Jianfeng Mt Forest Park in Doumen District is being limited while function, landscape, safety, and access upgrades are being made over the next five months.
According to the Doumen Forestry Bureau, a tourist service center will be constructed at the best-preserved and largest provincial forest park. The new floor space of 1,390 sq m (.34 acre) will be used to provide visitor services and information based on forestry research and cultural impact of the forestry industry. The upgrades are intended to better harmonize the park with its surroundings and offer staggered perspectives based on height variations.
The main entrance gate, fire-fighting pool atop the mountain, and viewing deck are slated for improvements. When fully open in July, the new park square will have a design featuring ripples like those made by a stone thrown into a pond, and a sculpture will stand at its center, according to a project leader.

The road entrance behind the park will be improved, as will one to the north behind Jianfeng Village (尖峰村). The project will cover 2.6 hectares (6.4 acres) including 18,054 sq m (4.5 acres) of green space.
Jianfeng Mt Forest Park opened in 1995 in the urban area of Jing'an Town (井岸镇). It adjoins the Huangyang River along Zhufeng Avenue at its southeast bank and comprises 117 hectares of biologically diverse environment. Energetic park visitors might want to note that it takes around 40 minutes to climb the stairs to the 186-m (610-ft) peak.
The park is about a 50-minute drive from Gongbei Port.
