International five-star Méridien and Hilton hotels, a Civic Cultural Center, and Floral Culture & Leisure Street will bring a new lifestyle and upscale tourists to the west bank of the Huangyang River in Doumen District.

Ground was broken only a few days ago for the 2-billion-yuan ($299-million) Zhuhai TFG Plaza in the central area of Doumen. The 98.9-m (324-ft) international commercial complex will have floor area of 200,000 sq m (49 acres) and house a Hilton Hotel, shopping mall, headquarters office, and business apartments.

The plaza at the foot of Jianfeng Mt neighbors the Huangyang River and Jianfeng Mt Park to the north. It will bring all-round convenience and other support facilities to residents in the West Wing of Zhuhai.

Coming up next, Doumen Shirong Real Estate will build Shirong Le Méridien Hotel & Resort also alongside the Huangyang River.

Covering 72,346 sq m (18 acres) , the hotel will have floorage of 144,692 sq m (36 acres) and cost more than 2 billion yuan ($299 million). It will comprise a main tower, four villas, 300 apartment-typed guestrooms, and commercial and residential areas.

A subsidiary of Marriott International, Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts of Singapore is to operate the hotel, which is designed by Wimberly, Allison, Tong & Goo (WATG) of Honolulu, a world-leading design consultant, to meet five-star standards.

A marina is proposed adjacent to the resort, which WATG official Sean Sih-Youngjeon said will have attributes of "discovery, timeless chic, innovation, and modern." The hotel entrance will be made through an urban forest with a vista toward the river to connect the guests with nature, albeit in an urban setting.

In Jing'an Town, a Civic Cultural Center will be built between Jianfeng Mt and Huafa Wetland Park on the bank of the Huangyang River. The center is to encompass three arts stadiums, a cultural community, cultural-creative habitat, and eco-park.

The center will include an experiential library, science hall, performance and art center, Lingnan (Cantonese) book bar, restaurants, stylish bar, small gallery, cultural-creative center, cultural-creative apartments, and more.

As an extra touch, Floral Culture & Leisure Street will help to reinvigorate the old town.
