Sky lights up tonight for Zhuhai City's 40th anniversary
Achievements since Zhuhai officially became a city in 1979 will be projected on Zhuhai Opera House's exterior walls tonight, March 5, in concert with fireworks and a laser light show. An impressive formation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and flash mobs will bring the grand celebration to a climax.
Boats operating first-class laser projectors will be anchored around Xiangzhou Port on Central Lovers Avenue as fireworks burst over the water. The display will be produced by the team that was behind the presentation of Zhuhai as the sub-venue of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala for 2018. The visual effect team responsible for the 2019 Gala's parallel session in Shenzhen will execute the display according to a preset design.

The shows will be staged from 8-8:30 pm, 9-9:20 pm, and 10-10:20 pm. The first show will be broadcast live on ZHTV-1, 珠海特报 (Zhūhǎi tè bào) and 贝壳珠海(Bèiké zhūhǎi) apps, www.hizh.cn, and www.n21.cc. Local broadcasting stations (FM95.1, FM87.5, and FM91.5) will also give airtime to the on-the-spot reporting.
Tips: The suggested viewing area is from Qiyeling Road intersection (契爷岭路口) to Dongfeng Road intersection (东风路口) along Central Lovers Avenue. Visitors are advised to use public transport or walk as there will be no parking spaces due to traffic control whereas motorists are required to follow temporary traffic signs.
Rain gear is necessary as showers are forecast but the comfort level will still be high with mild temperatures from 18-20 degrees.
Note: For a 24 hour period beginning at 8 am on March 5, unlicensed small-sized flying objects at low altitude and low speed are prohibited in the areas of Central Lovers Avenue, Yeli Island, Hi City, and Xiangzhou Port.
