Doumen preserves wetland park along Huangyang River
Huangyang River Wetland Park will open in June as Doumen District deliberately creates a green, low-carbon, waterfront, livable, ecological new town by developing 10 parks each year.
The new ecotourism facility is dedicated to education and the conservation of Zhuhai's diverse resources. Its 40 hectares (99 acres) stretch from the Jianfeng Bridge (尖峰大桥) at Xidi Road (西堤路) to loop around to the Shengshichong Sluice Gate (圣狮涌水闸) over 3.7 km (2.3 miles). At this point it is very near Huafa Aquatic Villa Provincial Wetland Park.
Admirable reeds, mangroves, lily ponds, and bald cypresses will be viewed from an array of boardwalks, pavilions, corridors, squares, and special observation decks.
Idyllic conception
A coastal wetland ecological area with environmental protection, sightseeing, science education, and fitness and leisure provisions, the park cost 80 million yuan ($11.9 million).
Construction was accelerated for this year's opening while a similar work schedule applies to the second phases of Jianfeng Mt Forest (to the northwest), Heyi Urban, Baiteng Community, and Dongdi Community parks.
Doumen's practice of building 10 community parks a year began in 2014.
