Zhuhai Technician College specializes in skill-oriented training and has turned out more than 1,000 technicians each year since it was founded in 1980. Eight out of ten later become senior artisans with accreditations and over 90 percent stay in Zhuhai. It is listed as one of top 10 high-level technical institutes in Guangdong Province.
The original campus at 42 Bailian Road, Jida was renovated and expanded last year. Now the two campuses cover nearly 300 mu (49.4 acres) which should mean more-efficient operations to meet higher demands for skilled workers. The project was approved in 2009 and construction began in 2016.
Lots of practice opportunities are on offer for the college students due to long cooperative relationships with world-leading companies.
For example, Zhuhai Technician College and German MTU Aero Engines and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) opened a Sino-German Vocational Technical Training Center in December 2001.
Jinwan District, home to Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport, is rapidly developing as a base for hi-tech industries. Sanzao Science & Technology Industrial Park, for instance, has aviation, biomedicine, new energy, electronical products, electrical appliance, and precision manufacturing as pillar industries.
