Beautification and utilization: new Qi'ao Island park
A coastal boardwalk park costing 30.6 million yuan ($4 million) will be developed starting soon on Nanmang Bay in southeast Qi'ao Island to open in time for next year's Spring Festival.
Nanmang Bay Park will occupy 59,000 sq m (15 acres) on East Ring (Huandao) Road close to the Qi'ao Bridge and opposite Peking University Experimental School (Zhuhai). Also nearby are the Zhuhai Qi'ao-Dan'gan Island Nature Reserve and Zhuhai Golden Apple Karting Circuit.

The park will feature a beach, sightseeing square, upgraded rest station, and green areas. The ecology will be restored with most of the trees kept, slopes leveled, jumbled shrubs removed, and turf laid. Part of a sunken green area will become wetlands with aquatic plants.
The seawalls on the west side will be consolidated. Damaged ground surface there will become a parking lot for 308 vehicles. Other facilities include two restrooms and space for administrative services.
