Doumen District was recognized as one of China's Most Beautiful Leisure & Travel destinations with an established reputation at the 2019 Summit for Promotion of Outstanding Chinese Tourism Brands in Beijing on June 18.

Pristine countryside scenery, rich folk culture, livable environment, and mouth-watering culinary delicacies of the district were promoted at the summit and attracted much interest.

Covering 674.8 sq km (261 sq miles), Doumen is located at the core of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The waterside town is replete with picturesque views of mountains, rivers, sea, and paddy fields.

Upon that foundation, an industrial chain is taking form integrating leisure tourism, sightseeing, and farming experiences. Highlighted are year-long points of interest, including viewing flowers in spring, picking fruit in summer, and harvesting crops in autumn.

A growing draw, Doumen saw a double-digit annualized growth rate in tourist numbers from 2016 to 2018, according to summit attendee Zhang Hongmei, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Doumen District Committee.
