New long-distance bus depot begins serving Gaolan
The newly built Nanshui Passenger Depot in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone came into service on July 31 as the home base for 23 coaches to Guangzhou, Xinyi, Zhaoqing, Meizhou, Xinhui, Taishan, and other cities in Guangdong Province.
More routes are envisioned for Shenzhen, Dongguan, Foshan, Huizhou, and western Guangdong cities, as well as others to Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, and Hubei provinces.
New Nanshui Passenger Depot
The 15,000-sq-m (3.7-acre) facility at 9310 Zhuhai Ave was built by Xinhe Long-Distance Passenger Transportation at a cost of 50 million yuan ($7 million). The 28-year-old precursor, with 400 sq m (478 sq yd) in construction area, could no longer satisfy public needs.
The only passenger depot built to second-class standards in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone, it is said to "highlight overall intelligent management" while offering self-service check-in, ticket purchase, and boarding.
A seamless transfer is allowed in conjunction with nearby Nanshui Bus Stop, at which 14 buses stop.
